Matt Cooper is BEDA's Founder and Managing Director, leading analytics, advisory and project management.
Matt Cooper started BEDA. He began as an electrical apprentice in 2008 and built his career across commercial solar and energy efficiency — as a senior business development manager at one of Australia's largest energy efficiency and solar retailers, and helping build another of the majors from scratch, taking on the role of commercial director.
He has run end-to-end project management on large-scale commercial and national rollouts, negotiated commercial energy contracts on the retail side, worked with a range of major clients, and managed substantial engineering teams — overseeing the delivery of more than 2,700 commercial projects.
Michael Steer is BEDA's Principal Engineer, leading civil and structural engineering.
He is a Chartered Professional Engineer, Fellow of Engineers Australia and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland, with more than 45 years across civil and structural work in Australia and overseas.
He has designed and certified steel building frames and roofs to AS 4600, AS 4100 and the National Construction Code; assessed and certified existing structures across dozens of mining and industrial sites; designed dams, bridges, major concrete slabs, pipe racks, substation structures and tilt-up and steel-framed buildings; and managed all civil and structural engineering on the West Gate Tunnel in Melbourne and on one of the world's largest mine and processing plants.
He has run engineering consultancies in Queensland and Victoria, given expert evidence on infrastructure, and spent much of his career developing engineers to his own standard of rigour. At BEDA that standard sits on every civil and structural assessment we issue — roofs, footings, ground-mounts, site works and whatever the project needs next.
